In May 2010 Grand Master Alex Anatole was invited to attend an exhibition devoted to Taoism in Paris, France. “The Way of Tao” (La Vole du Tao) — which means Another Path of Being was held in Paris at Galeries nationales du Grand Palais near the Champs-Elysées. This beautiful exhibition gave Western visitors an introduction to a totally unfamiliar way of thinking and the concept of Man’s place in the universe. Displaying several hundreds of Taoist artifacts such as paintings, sculpture, pottery, bronze and textiles, the exhibition allowed visitors to see and understand how Taoism has developed over the centuries, based on some fundamental guiding principles.

The collection of artifacts came from the Musée Guimet in Europe, the United States and Taiwan. “La Vole du Tao”, the first monumental exhibition of this kind in Europe, was a successful attempt to visualize Taoism, presenting the mix of philosophy, religion and popular Taoist beliefs that has influenced life in China for more than two millenniums.

Grand Master Alex Anatole

The Master came because it was his time to be born.

Chuang Tzu

Grand Master Alex Anatole was born in Moscow, Russia. At a young age, he was introduced to Master Lu Yang Tai, the “Enlightened One,” a Taoist sage with genealogical lineage extending to the ancient origins of Taoism. From the age of eight, Alex was his only disciple, learning all aspects of the Great Art — philosophy, healing, martial arts, astrology, and religious procedures.

After twenty years he was ordained a Taoist priest, building several underground Taoist temples in Russia — hidden from the religious persecution of Soviet times.

Eventually his spiritual activities became known to the authorities and he fled to the United States. This was foretold by prophesy with his given Taoist name of I Yan Lung, “He who brings true Tao to the West.”

In 1976 Grand Master Alex Anatole immigrated to the United States. Near Boston, he built the Center of Traditional Taoist Studies and its Temple of Original Simplicity, recognized as one of the few authentic Taoist temples outside China. It maintains close ties to the few surviving temples in Shanghai while Grand Master Alex Anatole continues the tradition of imparting Taoism through a classical program of philosophy, religion, meditation, and Chi Quong. Initially, he adopted a quiet approach to teaching Taoism but observed with great concern the distorted teachings of his beloved faith. Motivated by a desire to preserve ancient Taoism in its purest form, he writes and lectures throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
Grand Master Alex Anatole has a PhD from Moscow University and his temple has been profiled in numerous studies, including Harvard’s Pluralism Project. He is the author of The Truth of Tao; The Essence of Tao; Tao of Celestial Foxes-The Way to Immortality; A synopsis of Taoisy Teachings for the West.

Introduction to Taoist Lin Hun Therapy – part 1

        July 25, 2015 at 12:38 PM
What is Taoist Lin Hun Therapy?

The Temple of Original Simplicity has studied and practiced the great teachings of the Tao for nearly forty years. A significant element of these teachings involves physical and mental healing through Chi Quong and Meditation, among other techniques. Over the years, we gradually came to realize that the healing aspect of Taoism was even more profound than we initially thought. The positive physical benefits of the system were naturally expected. But the impact on the mental well being of the inexperienced practitioner was far more significant. So we compiled a synopsis of select ancient Taoist Shamanistic methods that can dramatically improve the condition of those who might suffer from psychological disorders. This is what is known as Taoist Lin Hun Therapy.

Live in the Present Moment, Not the Future

The problem that plagues many people is that they don’t live in the present moment. They are too focused on their calculations and big plans for the future. This practice extracts them from the reality of today. The danger of big plans is that one abandons the present and begins to live in the future. A person may decide they want to buy a house. They might ponder the design of the layout; the color scheme of the walls that will match the style of furniture; the breed of dog that will lay at their feet and most importantly, which school their unborn children will attend… While, in reality, they are single, unemployed, eternally in debt, and still living with their parents. Rather than big plans, we have a general direction of where our path may lead, but not an exact GPS coordinate where we will or should be at a specific time.

It is easier to dwell in a fantasy than to make an effort to deal with the hardships of reality. There is nothing wrong with attempting to improve your lot in life, so long as it’s founded in tangible and attainable goals. Otherwise your pursuit of the unattainable will lead you to a disillusionment of dreams and an eventual path to depression.

Just as the old saying warns that “Better is the Enemy of Good”, the Future can be the enemy of the Present. There is a narrow bridge that we are walking from the present to the future, from reality to fantasy. Until something is in the present moment, it doesn’t really exist, whether it’s something we desire or something we dread. So we have to watch our footing before us, and be cautious to not drift over the edge of the bridge.

The Taoist practitioner strives to live a long and prosperous life, so of course retirement savings, insurance, vacations, etc., should be part of our path of life. These are some of the modern tools, especially as one gets older, that can help provide a more content life. It is wise to store some nuts away for the barren winter, but donot starve yourself in the process of hording an incredible amount of goods that you probably won’t ever enjoy. For even as we make these provisions, we have to understand that we are not in control of our future. Remember the adage ‘If you want to make the Gods laugh, tell them your plans.’

We must realize that the path to our intended goals will deviate in such an unpredictable manner that, ultimately, it might barely resemble our original ideas. So as long as we understand the reality of everyday life, and we are at least trying to solve these matters, we will be grounded in reality. While we are severely limited in our knowledge and ability to plan the future, having a rigid mindset and unrealistic expectations is what corrupts our present moment.

A septic present moment will spread its roots into the past as well into the future. It is the only nexus that ties the two together. So focus your energies on forging a quality present moment and you will surely leave behind a solid past worth reflecting upon. By also putting your emphasis on right now, you will improve the opportunity of having a content future pathway.

        Taoist Lin Hun Therapy

Taoist Lin Hun Therapy was created and decoded from ancient Chinese Shamanism by the founder of the Center of Traditional Taoist Studies – Temple of Original Simplicity, Grandmaster Alex Anatole.
Taoist Heavenly Lin Hun Therapy deals systemically with the theological – religious psychotherapy of the human eternal energies. As there is no corresponding translation of Lin Hun in the English language, it is quite difficult and challenging to understand. In Chinese alchemy, the definition and connotation of the prenatal and postnatal energies are very different than in Western culture and linguistics. In the magic of Taoist Shamanism, Lin Hun elucidates that humans are born, not with one soul as in Western religion but, with   two distinct energies, Hun and Po.
These two energies are further segmented into the three prenatal components of Hun and the seven postnatal components of Po. Based on the sacred teachings of Taoist Alchemy, the prenatal Hun and postnatal Po energies communicate with each other in a very intricate and complicated manner. Taoist Heavenly Lin Hun Therapy utilizes magic ceremonies to effect changes in the physical reality of our earthly dimension. Using sacred Shamanistic ceremonies and burning ancient magic diagrams, Taoist Heavenly Lin Hun Therapy can purge and purify the human spiritual elements, sending the mortal’s request to the Great Ultimate. Heavenly Lin Hun Therapy uses intangible, magic methods to obtain tangible results. Heavenly Lin Hun petitions the celestial spirits to change a person’s fate from misfortune to fortune, from confusion and bad luck to contentment and prosperity.

The Truth of Tao Reveals Taoism’s Ancient Secrets

Lao Tzu’s Tao Te Ching is one of the most widely read books in the history of mankind, second only to Christianity’s Holy Bible. And yet for twenty-six hundred years, its teachings have been shrouded in mystery and subject to conflicting interpretations. Now, for the first time, the secrets of this powerful religious and philosophical system are explained to the American audience in a way that is understandable and practical. Grand Master Anatole takes the reader on a journey of enlightenment, eliminating the confusions of Western and Eastern cultural values, explaining the principles of Lao Tzu’s teachings and how to apply them in every day life. In the Truth of Tao, Taoism’s elegant system logically unfolds, uniting the physical, mental and spiritual realms until ultimately the purpose

of life is revealed. The book is now available in English and Russian editions, with a Chinese translation underway.

          The Essence of Tao

Taoism is codified in the Tao Te Ching, which was written in the sixth century B.C. by the ancient sage Lao Tzu. Despite being history’s second-most translated book after the Bible, its eighty-one poems have often been interpreted with confusing, contradictory, and sometimes blatantly incorrect explanations. The Essence of Tao removes the mystery surrounding this important philosophy and religion by reordering the core poems of the Tao Te Ching into a logical framework based on Taoism’s nine core principles and then explaining these principles in easy-to-understand language. Grand Master Anatole uses ancient and formerly “secret keys” to help unlock Lao Tzu’s mysteries, including Taoism’s famous paradoxes.

The Essence of Tao will help the reader get a clear view of reality in order to create a content existence.

Tao of Celestial Foxes-The Way to Immortality

Screen Shot 2019-06-23 at 8.59.50 PM

The Creed of the Foxes dates back thousands of years. The worship of gods known as foxes is based on a belief in animistic, foxlike, spiritual deities that are part of the cultural and religious fabric of Asia. To clarify the underlying principles of the Fox tradition, Master Anatole creates for the reader a framework of understanding that focuses on ancient Chinese and Japanese History yet encompasses a structure of beliefs shared by Shamanistic cultures that span the world. Master Anatole also provides a compendium of related aspects from a wide range of culturally and historically diverse practices to illustrate the common beliefs regarding the moving energies of the soul after death,

while demystifying Taoist correlative cosmology – the basis for all Taoist and Fox metaphysics. Ultimately, he builds to the logical conclusion that the purpose of our lives is to achieve intellectual evolution and spiritual immortality.

A Synopsis of Taoist Teachings for the West

Screen Shot 2019-06-23 at 8.57.04 PM

Ordained as a Taoist priest and Master of Celestial Foxes, Grand Master Anatole continues the traditions and teachings of Taoism and the Creed of Celestial Foxes through a classical curriculum employing the ancient techniques for mental and physical health and wellness.Grand Master Anatole gives a synopsis of the three sacred postulates of Taoism; Nature, Humanity and Justice, and Empirical Metaphysics. Nature, is the litmus test for our earthly existence. The Taoist understanding of Humanity and Justice explains the motivations of the social structure and how to successfully navigate complex social environments. Empirical Metaphysics is the discipline of communicating with the High. Energy to achieve practical results for a successful and prosperous life.

The three fundamental pillars are based on an understanding of dealing with the impartiality of ultimate reality rather than the idealistic concepts of universal love, freedom, and fairness for all. These three pylons form the golden triangle of Taoism and are presented and explained by Grand Master Anatole in simple, easy-to-understand language.
